Patient's FAQ

General Questions

What services does your clinic provide?

Do I need a referral to be seen?

No referral is needed. Patients can call to request an appointment or book online. We also welcome walk-ins for information, though scheduling in advance is recommended. Some insurance plans may require referrals for coverage. Please check with your provider.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept most major insurance plans for family care visits. Many insurance policies also cover acupuncture for pain management and related conditions. The easiest way to check your coverage is to call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask about acupuncture treatments (including deductible, covered treatments, annual visit limits, and copay/coinsurance details). Our staff can assist in verifying your benefits before your first visit, provided you submit the online intake form in advance.

Acupuncture Services

What is acupuncture and how does it work?

Acupuncture is a safe, natural therapy that uses fine, sterile needles placed at specific points on the body. These points stimulate circulation, balance the nervous system, and encourage the body’s natural healing processes.

What conditions can acupuncture help with?

Acupuncture is commonly used to support:

  • Pain relief (neck, back, joints, headaches, migraines)
  • Fertility and women’s health
  • Stress, anxiety, and insomnia
  • Digestive issues
  • Allergies and respiratory support
  • General wellness and preventive care

(Ask your provider if acupuncture may benefit your specific health goals.)

Does acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture is generally not painful in the way most people think of pain. The needles are extremely thin (much finer than injection or blood-draw needles), so insertion usually feels like a small pinch or nothing at all.

Once the needles are in place, people often describe sensations like:

  • A mild dull ache
  • Warmth or tingling
  • A sense of heaviness or pressure around the point

These are normal and even desired responses, showing that the body is reacting.

Sharp pain is not typical, though a quick pinch can sometimes happen. If discomfort persists, the practitioner will adjust or remove the needle.

Family Care Services

What family care services do you provide?

Our family care practice offers:

  • Annual physical exams and preventive screenings
  • Chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, asthma)
  • Same-day visits for minor illnesses or injuries
  • Lab testing and referrals when needed
  • Pre-operative care

Can I bring my whole family?

Yes. We provide care for patients of all ages, from children to seniors, and emphasize building long-term relationships to support your family’s overall health.

How long is a typical appointment?

  • Family care visits: Usually 20–40 minutes, depending on your needs.
  • Acupuncture sessions: The first visit typically lasts 60–90 minutes (including consultation), while follow-up treatments last about 45–60 minutes.

Before & After Visits

How should I prepare for my appointment?

  • Acupuncture: Eat a light meal beforehand, wear comfortable clothing, and avoid alcohol or heavy caffeine. If you have recent medical records, such as X-rays, we encourage you to bring them with you.
  • Family care: Bring your insurance card, a list of medications, and any recent medical records if available. For annual checkups requiring blood work, please fast for 10 hours before your visit. For example, if your appointment is at 9 AM, refrain from eating after 11 PM the night before.

What should I do after treatment?

  • After acupuncture: Drink plenty of water, rest if possible, and avoid overexertion immediately following the session.
  • After family care visits: Follow your provider’s instructions. We will provide clear after-visit summaries and prescriptions if needed. Depending on your condition, our practitioners will give you specific post-visit care instructions.
